Triumph Over Tragedy: Jose's Inspiring Journey
|
 |
In May 2023, Jose, a father of two and an experienced journeyman electrician, suffered a life-changing work accident that resulted in the loss of his left leg below the knee. Thanks to his quick thinking and the rapid response of paramedics and the team at Chandler Regional Medical Center's Level One Trauma Center, Jose not only survived but, in the process, also found a new purpose in his life and career.
Jose's survival depended on immediate access to specialized trauma care. He underwent 12 surgeries and 111 days of rehabilitation, learning to walk again and function well in his daily life. Today, Jose works as a Tekline Services Safety Manager, using his experience and OHSA training to help train and protect his fellow electricians on the job.
The Impact of Your Support: Your donations help to ensure that life-saving trauma care is available 24/7 for patients like Jose. Chandler Regional Medical Center's Level One Trauma Center serves as a crucial resource for our community and surrounding rural areas.
Learn how your continued support make stories like Jose's possible and helps save lives every day.

Create a Cozy Haven for Substance-Exposed Newborns and Their Moms |
Hospitals are meant to be places of healing, relying on cutting-edge technology and equipment to deliver care. In the case of newborns who are experiencing substance withdrawal, there also is a critical need for a more specialized, nurturing environment that goes beyond typical medical equipment.
Current hospital rooms where these vulnerable infants and their families seek a healing start tend to be clinical and sterile, not cozy, home-like havens where they can rest and bond. The Eat, Sleep, Console (ESC) program at Chandler Regional Medical Center transforms their care with thoughtfully designed rooms to better meet the unique care needs of newborns recovering from Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome (NAS).
Instead of separating families, we now encourage recovering mothers (or caregivers) to stay bedside throughout their hospital stay. Babies with NAS used to face extended hospital stays of up to 62 days, often separated from their mothers. With ESC, babies now typically stay between 5 to 14 days while experiencing a caregiver’s dedicated attention, physical contact, and time together that is so essential for bonding and recovery.
Your financial support is crucial in creating the best conditions for mothers and newborns to have a chance at a healthy start together.

Tickets On Sale for Residency Royale Charity Casino Night on January 11 |
If you play your cards right (and order your tickets here), you'll be part of a great evening of dinner and charity games on Saturday, January 11, while helping fund crucial stipends for fourth-year medical students, particularly those from groups typically underrepresented in medicine (URM).
These stipends enable these students to participate in rotations at Chandler Regional and Mercy Gilbert Medical Centers without financial burdens, enriching the diversity of our future residency classes and ensuring our future emergency medicine physicians reflect the communities we serve.
Additionally, the funds will be used to support essential educational and training needs for our residents. This includes covering the costs of an annual airway conference and acquiring critical equipment like Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS) devices to enhance hands-on training.
Place your bet on the future of our Emergency Medicine Resident Program.

Planned Giving Doesn't Need to Wait
Donations of Appreciated Stock or IRA Distributions are two tax-smart ways to start creating your charitable legacy right now, with the opportunity to see your generosity at work, making a meaningful difference. Donating appreciated stocks directly to Dignity Health Foundation East Valley can help avoid capital gain taxes and allow you to deduct the full fair market value of the stocks at the time of donation. This strategy may allow you to donate much more than if you sold the stocks and donated the resulting cash. Individuals 70 1/2 and older can make direct charitable donations from their IRA, with these distributions counting to your Required Minimum Distributions.
